侯振兴称，交通运输部坚持围绕中心、服务大局，充分发挥农村公路的先行作用，不断加快贫困地区交通发展。2014年以来贫困地区新改建农村公路超过140万公里，新增超过4万5千个乡镇和建制村通客车，2019年实现具备条件的乡镇和建制村通硬化路，2020年实现具备条件的乡镇和建制村全部通客车，兑现了小康路上不让任何一个地方因为交通而掉队的承诺。具体可以用三句话来概括：
第二句话是乡村更美了。“四好农村路”串联起城市和乡村，缩短了城乡间的时空距离，盘活了农村地区文化、旅游等特色资源，推动农村地区“因路而兴”“因路而富”“因路而美”谭谈交通，让乡村振兴的动能更足。“四好农村路”助力优化村镇布局，留住了乡韵乡愁，促进了乡风文明，改变了农村面貌，助力绘就宜居宜业和美乡村的新画卷。
