据介绍，云萝植物园保育了1500余种乡土和珍稀植物，包含迁地保育的珍稀濒危物种游戏王粤语版，如热带雨林标志性树种、号称“雨林巨人”的望天树，享有“植物界大熊猫”美誉的白花兜兰。同时，这里还拥有新优奇特的园林观赏植物，如老茎生花的多花皇冠果、开花时满树金黄的黄花木棉。此外，该园还拥有女王鹿角蕨、“五雀”簕杜鹃、猴面包树三大“镇园之宝”。
云萝植物园秉持师法自然的理念，运用现代手法演绎“山清水秀、鸟语花香、峰回路转”的岭南园林精髓。该园打造了广州市内唯一一条穿行于白云山林冠之间的空中游览步道——木棉道，廊道沿线错落有致地分布着“白云亭”“雨林之眼”“老树桩”等13个景观节点。人们漫步在木棉道上，可以多角度、近距离接触不同花色的木棉和开花乔木。
